So I’ve been wavering back and forth between whether or not to continue using WordPress as the CMS for my website. I love WordPress. I’ve been using WordPress since back in the day, and I still use it. But ever since I’ve installed it with the intent of running this website, I’ve felt like it was just a little too much overkill for something that is generally updated a very small amount at a time, and not on a regular basis. There are tons of features (which is great!) but simply more than I’ll ever need here.

So I’ve decided to start over and try something new.

I’m keeping this page around as a blog for things that need blogging, and I’ve rebuilt the site from scratch using good old fashioned PHP and a sprinkle of AJAX to polish it up. At any rate, it’s a bit more static, and a bit simpler, but I like it, and that’s what counts. I’ve polished the graphics slightly, and even updated them to include my new name! One of the strangest parts of getting married! I had even contemplated changing my domain name, but I’ve had this one for over seven years now, so it would be hard to let go of. Besides, using my new name as a domain would sort of become a case of alphabet soup.

You can now access the site by going straight to megan-koss.net. It’s very mobile-friendly as well. All of the old links here have been changed or updated to reflect the new site, so hopefully there will be no confusion.

So where do we go from here? Who knows! Off into the bloggy blue yonder!

I have clearly returned from getting married and all related business, which went extremely well and all involved parties are extremely happy.

In commemoration of this grand event, I have added some new artwork to my portfolio page – more specifically, some illustrations I created for my wedding invitations and related print material. Maybe it’s silly to be including them in my professional portfolio, but they were tons of fun to work on and lots of people liked them, so it seemed worthwhile to show them off a little more. I hope you’ll take a look and check them out!

I will be adding even more recent work to my portfolio soon, so I do hope you’ll return in the future. (Or subscribe to my always fascinating blog via the RSS feed at the bottom of the page!)

As a secondary purpose to this post, I would also like to note that I am now available again for new work, so if you are interested in hiring me, please get in touch!

Hello, and welcome to my website!

I hope to use this space to show off the things I’ve been working on lately and keep track of all my ideas. As an artist, I find looking at in-process work as interesting as the final result, so I hope to share some of what goes on in my own head here. I tend to carry a sketchbook around with me everywhere for notes, so this is sort of the digital equivalent, I suppose.

And who am I, exactly? I am a graphic designer. I recently graduated from SUNY Buffalo’s Visual Studies program with a concentration in Communication Design. I have spent a lot of time studying and working, perfecting my craft! At last, I am finally ready to go out into the world and do this as an actual career! At least, that’s what the fancy piece of paper with my name on it says. I grew up in the Buffalo area and spent my childhood being a geek in general, messing around with computers and Photoshop and stuff like that. Eventually, it translated into what I want to do for the rest of my life.

If you are looking for a designer or illustrator for your freelance project, please feel free to get in contact! There are a bunch of ways to get in contact with me on the “Contact” link to your right. Oh connected world that we live in.
