About
Hi there!
My name is Meg, and I’m a designer. I was born in 1986 and raised in the middle of nowhere in Western New York. I have always been interested in graphics and media, and I’m lucky to have had many experiences with these things starting from when I was very young. My mom was a firm believer in the value of technology, so I have to credit her with getting me access to computers and related classes as an elementary school student (back when the internet looked like this) – it almost certainly inspired my interest in communication which continues to this day.
I love doing too many different kinds of things to stick to just one kind of work, but I most enjoy web design, vector illustration, working in Flash, and designing for print. When I was a teenager, I wrote and published a novel for children. Throughout college and to the present, I’ve written and illustrated a sci-fi/fantasy webcomic which also recently saw a print edition.
I am a recent graduate of the Visual Studies program at the University at Buffalo, with a concentration in Communication Design. Many people ask me what Communication Design is, and the way I like to explain it is that I studied a wide variety of design-related topics and problems as a student. As a result, I have an intimate understanding of all kinds of ways that people communicate visually – whether it’s through logo or business identity creation, document and print design, video and photography, or interactive games and multimedia experiences.
My next major goal is to pursue my Master’s degree, but in the meantime I am exploring all of the different opportunities my current degree field offers and polishing some of my personal creative projects. I am presently unavailable for new work, but watch this site for more information about any possible future availability!
I am presently based in Buffalo, New York (go Sabres!) with my husband, Scott, and the world’s cutest cat who thinks he is a dog, Milo. I have blue hair, which is sometimes green or red or any other color. I enjoy video games, photography, comics, cooking, and plenty of other nerd-ly things.
Want to get in touch? Or maybe just find out more about my professional experience?
